Originally from China, ramen gained worldwide fame thanks to Japanese marketing and branding, and in Japan it is called ラーメン (ramen).

One of Ottogi's most popular ramens, particularly in the U.S., is their Cheese Ramen. This Cheese Ramen is a staple Korean comfort food, and as the name implies, it's simply instant noodles with cheese (sorta like Korean mac 'n' cheese). As another tip to enhance the flavour of the mushrooms, we recommend sauteing the mushrooms in butter. You can also use any oil with a high melting point e.g. olive oil.

Improving a Packet of Instant Ramen

For the eggs, make you use room-temperature eggs for boiling. If you put eggs taken straight from the refrigerator into boiling water, they may burst. And even if they do not burst, the eggs will cook unevenly and will not turn out great for your kimchi ramen noodles. Shin Ramyun was introduced in October 1986 by Nongshim. The Nongshim R&D team was inspired by Sogogijanguk, a spicy cabbage and beef stew, which is one of the most popular traditional South Korean dishes. [3]

Korean cup noodles are another quintessential staple. These noodles are typically thinner than ramen, and they’re just as flavourful. A common vegetable topping is shiitake mushrooms. The mild umami taste of the mushrooms goes well with kimchi ramen. Chashu pork slices are very often used as a topping (an additional ingredient) for Japanese ramen soups. Hence, connoisseurs of noodle dishes can also often add chashu pork slices as a meat addition to their kimchi ramen noodle bowls.

For something a bit more basic, Paldo’s instant kimchi noodles are vegan too. Unlike the Jjajangmen, these noodles are your typical soup-based ramen.
