About this deal

Overall, I would highly recommend as a class text for Key Stage 2; my class cannot wait to find out how Loki is going to improve his virtue score! Despite his contemptuous attitude towards mortal beings, readers will be rooting for him to make the right choices, as he learns about guilt, loyalty and friendship. Furious that he must suffer indignities such as attending school and doing chores, Loki struggles to be good.

Loki is the series protagonist - the most chaotic god of Norse mythology, who has been banished to live on earth as a normal child who also has to go to school. Underpinned by Nordic mythology and a satirical approach to contemporary culture, this entertaining romp already has a cult of worshippers. Wry, witty and very funny diary-style story packed with doodles and comic strips about the frustration trickster god Loki feels at having to live trapped in the body of a weedy eleven-year-old boy.Reading books to children has lots of amazing benefits - even when they're learning to read (or can read) themselves. Private School: a place where the children of the rich learn how to talk over each other and are told on a daily basis that they are born to rule the world.

Loki is a character that we just can’t get enough of and in this quirky interpretation, he’s a huge bundle of fun. If you are under 16, please obtain your parent/guardian’s permission before submitting or ask your parent/guardian to submit on your behalf. We began it last week and it has proven an instant hit; they all look forward to story time at the end of the day now and check it will be happening first thing in the morning. It's funny, great illustrations, contains important life lessons and it's great to see lots of positive representations.Norse mythology is deftly woven in, with enough explanations (and diagrams) that it would be understandable to someone completely new to it, but with plenty of references that will make those who do understand them chuckle. Stowell balances humor with emotional depth, without ever falling into the expositional trope of people simply sitting and talking about their feelings. Definitely one you must have on your bookshelves, Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Ruling the World is my favourite in the series so far and my wife had to ask me to be quiet when I was reading as I was laughing so hard.
